Budget compliance shouldn't feel like a chore
We started velmariont in 2019 because we kept seeing the same problem. Businesses knew they needed better financial oversight, but the tools were either too complex or too simplistic. There had to be a middle ground.
How we got here
Back in early 2019, our founder Rhiannon was working with a Brisbane-based construction firm that kept blowing their project budgets. Not because they were careless, but because tracking expenses across multiple sites was genuinely difficult. Spreadsheets weren't cutting it.
That's when the idea clicked. What if budget compliance could be automated without requiring a finance degree to understand? What if managers could see where they stood without waiting for end-of-month reports?
We built the first version in six months. It was rough around the edges, but it worked. Three pilot companies used it throughout 2020, and their feedback shaped everything that came after. By 2021, we had our first paying customers. Today, we work with over 140 businesses across Australia.
We're not the biggest name in financial software, and that's fine by us. What matters is that our clients actually understand their numbers—and that's something we take seriously every day.
What drives us
Clarity over complexity
Financial data shouldn't require a translator. We design interfaces that make sense the first time you use them, not after a two-hour training session.
Real-time visibility
Waiting until month-end to discover budget issues is too late. Our systems update continuously so you can spot problems while there's still time to address them.
Honest support
When you contact us, you talk to people who actually understand the software. No scripted responses, no endless ticket queues—just straightforward help from our Brisbane office.
Our approach to budget management
-
1
Start with understanding
We don't push a one-size-fits-all solution. Every business has different budget structures, approval workflows, and reporting needs. We spend time learning yours before recommending anything.
-
2
Build practical systems
Our tools connect to your existing accounting software and payment systems. No manual data entry, no duplicate records—just clean, automated tracking that runs in the background.
-
3
Focus on prevention
Budget compliance isn't about catching mistakes after they happen. It's about setting up guardrails that prevent overspending before approvals go through. That's where our alert systems come in.
-
4
Keep improving
We release updates based on what clients tell us they need. No feature bloat, no trendy additions that nobody asked for—just consistent refinements to what actually matters.
Meet the team
We're a small group based in Broadbeach, Queensland. Most of us come from finance or software backgrounds, and a few of us have worked in both. What we share is a belief that budget management shouldn't require a PhD.
Rhiannon Caldwell
Founder and Director
Rhiannon spent eight years in corporate finance before starting velmariont. She's the one who insists we test every feature with actual users before it goes live—a process that's saved us from several bad ideas.
